About me

Background

I was born and raised on the Wirral, Merseyside. After attending a large comprehensive school including sixth form, I worked for a year at Barclays Bank, Liverpool. Following this I attended Newcastle University to study Politics and Economics and then onto my PGCE at Hull University.

I then returned to the North East for my first teaching post and I adopted Newcastle as my home city. Seven schools, two headships and three daughters later I now use my experience to advise and support other schools. I have also chosen to teach A level Economics part-time.

My interests include supporting Liverpool Football Club, Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club, early ferroequinology...and Neighbours.
My experience

My experience and knowledge are extensive. It spans 7 secondary schools in a 31 year teaching career to date including 18 years in senior leadership and 10 years as a Headteacher.

My last school's Ofsted report stated that “The headteacher is a very effective leader...the academic achievement is good...the quality of teaching is good overall and outstanding in some lessons." I have comprehensive knowledge of current educational issues within the national agenda and have proven that I can raise standards over a short period of time.

I have a particular interest in developing the whole student and my last school was Highly Commended in the 2016 DfE Character Awards.
